With so many to choose from, it’s difficult to rank the greatest attractions at the most magical place on Earth. Choosing between Animal Kingdom, Magic Kingdom, Epcot, and Hollywood Studios, choosing the best is nearly impossible. However, we have come up with some of our top attractions at Disney World and believe these to be the most impressive and well-crafted experiences that you must see when you visit.
Big Thunder Mountain Railroad
Big Thunder Mountain Railroad has always been one of the crowd favorites and it still continues to be one of the most popular attractions at Walt Disney World. Managing to combine a coherent story and amazing visuals throughout, Big Thunder Mountain Railroad is a thrill ride done right and that is precisely why we placed it so high on our list. With family-friendly fun and beautiful scenery, Big Thunder Mountain Railroad packs in a number of gags and laughs for the whole family to enjoy and may even want to ride the attraction twice.
One of the most overlooked attractions at Walt Disney World, Kilimanjaro Safaris makes our list for its incredible ability to combine animals and habitats so impressively. Kilimanjaro Safaris is essentially one enormous, sprawling landscape put together by great Imagineering work and its minimal storyline leaves you in suspension throughout the ride and leaves you with a feeling of disbelief after realizing you essentially just embarked on a two-week safari. Kilimanjaro Safaris is the best possible combination of a thrill ride and a zoo that provides fantastic production and presentation for the guest.
Tower of Terror
We understand that the name may frighten you, but Tower of Terror is, without a doubt, one of the best attractions that Disney World has ever built. The experience drops guests (literally) into Sunset Boulevard as they overlook Hollywood before they are heightened into suspense through the twilight zone-themed hotel grounds. The amount of detail both indoor and out is quite amazing and Tower of Terror offers an all-around service of curious visuals. Since its creation, Tower of Terror has been one of the most thoughtful and stormy-driven thrill rides and continues to be a permanent fixture of Disney World.
Avatar Flight of Passage
One of the newest attractions at Disney World, Avatar Flight of Passage continues on the same amount of excitement as the visually savvy film. With extreme layers of detail, Avatar Flight of Passage takes guests through a compelling story full of amazing visuals and sensory tricks to fully immerse you in the film-based experience. All around, Avatar Flight of Passage is beautifully vivid and the majesty of the experience will surely last the test of time as a main Disney World attraction.
There’s no denying how amazing our planet is and Spaceship Earth does a beautiful job at engineering just how spectacular the marvel of time travel is. Putting guests in a time machine, Spaceship Earth weaves you throughout history and presents itself in an interesting way as it transitions you from one moment in time to another. Guests leave the ride feeling as if they truly witnessed reenactments of significant moments in history while also earning a particular sense of how each moment has shaped our world.
Pirates of the Caribbean
If we were to talk about all-time classic attractions at Disney World, Pirates of the Caribbean is sure to make the list, which practically makes it a shoe-in for this list. The film-themed thrill ride transports guests through an era where pirates ruled the ocean and puts you right in the middle of the action and adventure. Along the journey, guests are treated to a number of gags, laughs, and depictions of caricatured pirates that is both hilarious and quite stunning to see.
Splash Mountain is one of the top attractions at Disney World and it continues to maintain its excellence purely by the satisfying animatronics-driven spectacle full of thrills and, of course, lots of water. Both a masterpiece and an adventure, Splash Mountain is a 13-minute detail-filled attraction that truly feels like a real place and with its immense amount of depth and detail, Splash Mountain leaves you wanting to come back for more.
Taking a more modern, high-tech approach to thrill rides, Expedition Everest takes guests on a realistic adventure through the incredibly dense terrain of Mount Everest. The detail-rich ride scores major points for its incredible ability at building up the experience as the ride gets farther in its adventure, leaving you further and further on the edge of your seat as the rid continues. The amount of realism involved in Expedition Everest is quite fascinating and truly makes you feel like you’re on a real expedition through the Nepal mountains.
American history may not be everyone’s favorite school subject, but American Adventure does an amazing job of tricking you into actually thinking it is. American Adventure is a Broadway-style thrill ride that delivers a stage show of key moments in American history in a cohesive manner and the tactfully placed moments make the entire attraction poignant and engaging. American Adventure is a one-of-a-kind animatronic achievement and the high-impact projections, sound lighting, and other enhancements make this attraction a must-see.
Last, but most certainly not least, Haunted Mansion is one of the most beautifully imaginative attractions in Disney World. One of the oldest attractions in Disney World, Haunted Mansion is a multi-level attraction that does a fantastic job at creating somewhat spooky and humorous imagery that is similar to a strange, but vivid dream. With so many vignettes throughout the attraction, Haunted Mansion leaves guests with a memorable, graphic aspect that practically demand to guests to revisit.
