Disney’s Pandora Ride: Making the Most of It

It’s a big summer for new attractions in Orlando, from theme parks to dining and beyond! One of the most exciting among them is Pandora – The World of AVATAR at Disney’s Animal Kingdom® theme park, the largest expansion in the park’s history. There’s a ton of brand new things to do and see here, but don’t stress! We’ve got the scoop on how to experience the best of this new attraction, from start to finish. Here are our best tips:

1. Talk to the “Experts”

One of the most amazing elements of Pandora is that you don’t have to know anything about the movie, storyline or characters of AVATAR to enjoy this new realm. Whether you’ve never even seen the film, or you remember it well and are curious how the hostile environment from the silver screen is now open for “interstellar tourism,” there’s so much to explore and discuss. Look no further than one of the roaming members of the fictional Alpha Centauri Expeditions (ACE), or “scientists” from the Pandora Conservation Initiative (PCI) for an enlightening and entertaining introduction to the area. You can ask questions about the pseudo-science of it all, get a crash course in some of the weird flora and fauna of the Valley of Mo’ara or learn about the Na’vi people. Before you know it, you’ll be swept up into the story, becoming immersed in the adventure yourself.

2. Time Your Visit

Timing is key to make the most of your visit here. While breathtaking in the daylight, Pandora becomes an enchanting playground at night, full of bioluminescent flowers, glowing paths and a whole different kind of beauty not to be missed. Here’s our advice: head over right before sunset, and see it both ways! Bonus: as the floating mountains catch the last of the sun, and the world around you sparkles in the twilight, you can’t ask for a better view.

3. Save Room for Unusual Eats

With lots of options across the parks for food and drinks, it can be hard not to go for the first bar you see, but make sure you save room for some of the new, exotic treats available in the Valley of Mo’ara. Head to the Pongu Pongu snack stand for some beverages beyond this world, like the signature Night Blossom, featuring layers of limeade, apple and desert pear slushie topped with passion fruit boba balls. Looking for something with a kick? Try the frozen Mo’ara Margarita, with Sauza Conmemorativo Añejo Tequila, Strawberry and Blood Orange flavors, topped with Strawberry Boba Balls. Two types of beer are also on offer, including the emerald green Hawkes’ Grog Ale.
